I have an Arduino circuit for driving stepper motors and using a second Arduino for the display from Electronoobs

**LINK**

The grounds are all tied together, but should the 5volt lines be commoned between the two Arduinos.

The schema in the link shows an Arduino Uno and a second Nano, but I will be using 2 Nanos both being powered by an external 12volt regulated DC supply.

Help

Bob

Keep the +5V local to the stuff connected to each nano.

Or fit a 7805 and power everything from that, the Arduino internal regulators are not the most robust devices as I know to my cost

Thanks for the replies. I will keep the 5v separate for the time being

Duncan, using the 7805, you would then feed that directly to the 5 volt pin on both Arduinos ? and in effect tie both of them to the same 5v level.
