A surprise find 2 red dots on my bull wheel then revealed the 60 teeth gear wheel had 4 cut marked on it at 15 teeth intervals not bad had not seen this before have only owned lathe for over 40 yrs , My guess the previous owner had done this as both the cross slide and compound slide hand wheels are graduated from 1 to 60 thou most photos i have seen of this lathe does not show any graduations.

Any more Faircut Owners may be worth a look .

Regards To all Brian

Nice pic Brian. Looks like it has a lot of modifications from the original spec.

I don't think I have any marks like that on my bull gear. Chalk marks on a suitable change wheel are my preferred way to do something similar.

60 divisions... so what is the feed screw pitch then? My cross slide and compound are both 12TPI and the cross slide has an 80 division dial... which only gives a rough number of thou because the pitch is 83.3 thou.

Regards, Andy

Hi Andy The cross and compound slide are both 3/8 whitworth and each seem to provide a movement of 60 thou when rotated a full turn.
