I have an Amolco free standing mill and am looking to fit a 2 axis DRO. Has anyone done this ? There's not a lot of space to play with and travel is already quite limited. Also do I go for glass or magnetic scales?

Magnetic scales and read heads are more compact than optical equivalents, and therefore easier to install if space is tight. I used M-DRO magnetic scales for the install on my Dore Westbury mill, and they fitted in quite nicely after I designed my own mounting brackets. There are some photos in my album.

Rather baffled by your comments. What was the problem viewing the pictures in my album?

Also don't understand the reference to Arc. As far I am aware Arc don't sell magnetic DROs.

Thanks Mike , no problem with the album pics and they confirm my thoughts on the problem. I am going to lose a little travel but I think the benefits outweigh the loss. I'm 10 minutes drive from Chronos but of course I can't go there for a looksee and measure up, very frustrating.
