Hi All

how do I get the top cover up to add some oil to the lathe

Hi Lee

I presume you're referring to the headstock oil. If your Boxford is the same as my 330 (X10 series), then you shouldn't need to remove the top cover. There is a filler plug in the side of the headstock immediately above the level window.

It is the same as the 330. Plug is on the RHS of the headstock above the fill level indicator.

To open the top cover, which will only give access to some of the electrics, you need to open the side door and undo the locking screw at the top front LHS of the headstock.

Hi Thanks for the replies

David there is a large HEX nut above the oil indicator so I presume that’s the filler cap

I’m sure when I got it I topped it up from above as I remember seeing the gears but I’m sure you’re right with the filler cap 👍
