191 forum posts 11 photos	No 2 Photo Brass nut fitted to cross slide bottom drilled and tapped 4BA and fixed with allen screws . Cross slide thread of 3/8 whitworth feels nice and tight now to make a replacement top cross slde end No 3 photo to folllow. Brian Morehen

440 forum posts 132 photos	Thanks for the pics Brian. Interesting that your cross slide screw is Whitworth. My pre-war Faircut has a square thread here. The saddle has a brass/bronze/gunmetal (not sure which) insert carrying the female thread. If ever I can figure out how it's held in then I might have a go at making a new insert for mine.
