![]() 273 forum posts 103 photos | I decided to grab a piece of steel, and have a go at machining a conrod for my S50 build, which I haven't yet started. This was mainly for practice I guess, as I haven't built anything challenging yet. Looking forward to starting the kit properly, and I will make the other one up. It's a case of trying techniques and practice, and the more I do, the more confident I feel. Getting better with sizing too Anyway, here is my practice piece. I'm quite pleased with that so far. There are differences in the sizes between the Stuart plans and the ME articles, but when it comes to the proper build, I'll take time to mentally assemble the parts, and make accordingly. |

![]() 273 forum posts 103 photos | Thanks Mark. It is tapered, around 0.75 degree's as I recall, which tbh I did by trial and error... striking lucky first time, just a gentle tap on the compound. When I come to do the proper one, I think I'll offset the tailstock. had to grind the tool also, to give me the 1/16th internal radius between the tapered shaft and the big/little ends. I'm learning all the time though. All good fun |
