![]() 1494 forum posts 403 photos | I have just finished machining a gunmetal casting for my engine and right on the final cut a 1/16" dia blowhole has been revealed. I am not keen to heat it so silver solder as a filler is not an option. Any ideas? Bronze coloured JB weld would be ideal if it was available. Rik |

2742 forum posts 39 photos | Hello Rik If you have some or can still make some filings of the material to mix as a filler into epoxy resin and by making a rather fluid mix, I think you should be able to plug a hole of that size by dabbling it in with a pin or similar and then helping it set with some gentle heat. I am assuming this is a cosmetic repair and not required to stand up to pressure. I have made similar repairs in cast iron with fillers using filings from the casting. Regards Brian |
