I've had my super 7 for around 5/6 yrs but I must admit I don't know how the spindle is driven, looking at the Head Stock drawing in the Myford manual I gather the inner part of H80 the head stock gear is driven by the woodruff key H22 but how is the bronze gear on the end of the vee pulley's connected to the head stock gear ? Looking at the head stock assembly drawing the penny won't drop !

Cheers

H

The bronze gear is a press fit in the pulley, you select whether of not it is connected to the bull gear, obviously not to be so when you have swung the back gear into use!

Although this is with a M7, it shows what I think you're asking i.e. operation of back gear.

Begin the YouTube vid at 11'24" unless you want to watch it all.
