Hi All,

Found this in Sherborne yesterday along with some other nice bits and pieces, seem very well made but no idea what it is used for.

Makers name looks like DECKEL and has 20:1 on the side.

Put the point in the last photo into a ctr hole or punch mark and clock it true by watching until the two points in the other end line up. what error you have at the work end is magnified by 20 times at the visual end. see one here

Jason, many thanks indeed! Looked up Deckel but did not find that! Kind of a posh wobbler...laugh

It looks more like a point finder rather that something to use while a machine is in motion. The lathes picture shows it in a carrier indicating a point on a punch.
