Oscillating engine design

9 forum posts 1 photos | Hi I am designing a few oscillating marine engines. I am looking at keeping the same stroke but lowering the hieght of the engine. Stan bray in "model marine steam" on page 30 talks about how to move the 2 ports closer to the pivot point so closer together while still being able to make the overall height shorter. But as the ports would be below tdc I would have to use transfer ports, to the single port in the cylinder which is above tdc. My question is, are the transfer ports in the steam block or the cylinder block? If any one has a clear diagram or advice off how to do it I would be grateful |
