13 forum posts | Hello. I have bought a Centec 2B, which is basically robust and with very little wear on the ways, but a machine that has been roughly used, with things like large spring washers to replace lock-nuts on the spindles. I have completely stripped the machine and plan to spend about 3-4 months doing a careful rebuild. One question I have is does anyone know where I can get a new horizontal arbor. The one that came with the machine has a badly marked up spindle surface and a very dodgy looking MT2 , with surface scratches. I am also looking for a Mk III head. I have a Mk II, which I have reconditioned, but I'd give all the hens' teeth in my collection to get a Mk III in good order. Looking forward to replies and thanks Hugh Allen |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | Hugh, Scratches on the surface of a morse taper are no particular problem. Just stone off any edges - they don’t need 100% contact area. Is the horizontal arbor the original 1” jobbie? You may find that you can use an unworn portion for most jobs? I made a 22mm horizontal arbor by shrink fitting a length of round stock into a MT2 blank end arbor suitably machined. Works OK so far.
BTW, just how many hen’s teeth are you offering? I’ve currently got none at all - which means that if you don’t have any more than I have, you are not offering anything!
