Digital Tachometer at fault

I charged the batteries for my Digital Tachometer that has not been used for a long time.

But it wont display the Target Indicator so no rpm readings.

The high, low memory screen worked but nothing recorded.

It's only a cheap one but would like to know what's gone wrong the Photo Signal red light beam works.

Have you removed the magnet at any point. Mine is polarity sensitive to the magnet (I think)
