Hi all, new member to the forum. Am returning to engineering 30 years after doing my mechanical and production engineering apprenticeship and will, no doubt, require lots of help and assistance. Hoping to set up a small engineering business turning out small one off jobs that larger companies do not wish to undertake. As a qualified draughtsman I will be able to do all the design work in-house, once I get to grips with the Myford Super 7 and Centec 2A I have purchased that is! John

John Milligan:

It sounds as though you are in the UK but might you confirm your whereabouts in general terms? ie give some indication in a public profile?

Good luck with your plans. You will certainly not want for advice here and with your background can no doubt put plenty back.

Hi ega, just getting to know the forum so don't know how to do a public profile? But yes am in Buckinghamshire, UK and hopefully I can give something as well as take advice lol. Did a four year mech n prod eng apprenticeship leading to design draughtsman qualification, tech sales engineer for specialist window cleaning equipment manufacturer, parts buyer for plant hire firm, parts manager for big yellow earth moving equipment company and finally self employed as garden contractor til my elbows, shoulders, knees and back started giving out! So now back to the tools and hopefully my experience will help

John Milligan:

Before posting I did check that *my* public profile shows me as in the UK but I'm blessed if I can see how this is set up; no doubt someone else knows and will enlighten us.

I did a little cycle racing in the Chilterns in my youth but am now living in Kent where my workshop includes a much-loved vintage Super Seven. I trust yours will serve you well.

We have done a swap as I was born n bred in Kent and now relocated to Bucks! I hope all my machines serve me well and earn me a few quid in the process

Have been lurking as a guest for a while here but have taken the plunge and joined here and the Centec yahoo group as I have just purchased a Myford Super 7 and Centec 2A which I collect next week. Need to dismantle both for ease of transport (people carrier) but am getting conflicting info on size/weight on the Centec as some posts say 2/3 guys and others 1 if you take main parts off? Any better info here to save wasted journey? Thanks

Click 'settings' at top left, then 'profile' will be an option.

Neil Wyatt:

Thank you for this and no doubt it was the route by which I set up my own profile but how does one choose what information is public?

Other forums encourage members to give an indication of their location presumably because it opens up the possibility of direct contact as, for example, in the Optimum saga.
