![]() 17 forum posts | I don't know if I understand correctly am I or am I not allowed to build my own steel boiler I understand about using coded plate and tube and the fact to sell a boiler it would need to be done by a coded welder I don't intend to sell my model when it's finished and it would be inspected I am a coded welder to do structural steel work but not pressure vessel. Hope this makes sense. |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Even if you were not a coded welder its possible to have your welds tested for a reasonable fee and if they pass which by the sounds of things they will then it is possible to make your own steel boiler, have a read of Fizzy's thread here. |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Do have words with your club inspector or whoever will be insuring the engine first just to make sure they are happy to do it that way as some are said to be more helpful than others. They may also want to see the boiler in stages throughout the build and also approve your chosen weld prep etc. And obviously if you are not building to a proven and published steel boiler design then that will need to be approved first.
