252 forum posts 68 photos | Hello All Well, about one year after buying Malcolm Strides book, some very helpful conversations with Ketan at Arc, lots of questions on this forum, more money than I care to think about, pretty much most weekends and many evenings, blood (I soon learned a milling cutters only goal in life is to get the back of your hand when cleaning the machine) , sweat (moving a lathe and milling machine), tears (accidentally scrapping a part after several weekends work – not good), a big pile of swarf, and a lot of scrap metal later, I finally had ignition yesterday afternoon. It's a single cylinder 4 stroke engine running on butane and based on David Kerzels hit and miss. The video shows the machining sequence, followed by yesterday’s first run. Real life was not quite as slick as the video suggests – I’ve a big pile of components that didn’t quite turn out! David |

I sympathise with you over the scrapping of a perfectly serviceable part. I did something similar recently and you just want to bang your head off the wall. graham. |
