Dunno if these are going to be any good but Lidl have a clip on GU10 LED spot for £3.99 on offer Moday 27th Jan, going to get the wife to call in and hopefully get a couple to try them out at that price.

Hi Mick,
I bought a couple of these a few years ago when they were supplied with halogen bulbs. The gooseneck is stronger than the Ikea lights. I used them modified at first to take 20 W MR16 bulbs which I later replaced with LED's The 1.3 W bulbs supplied may not be bright enough. I have recently bought some 5 W GU10 LED bulbs from some of the larger "Home Bargain " shops for about £4.50 (Ormskirk & Warrington Birchwood.) They use 24 type 5050 LED's and give a nice wide beam. So far they seem to be reliable. (In the past I have bought some similar ones on Ebay but they all failed within a few weeks.)

Mick,

As Les has indicated, these may be worth buying for the gooseneck alone

But [at the risk of stating the obvious] ... this year's model has GU10 fitting, and so there will be Mains Voltage on the unprotected lampholder. Therefore; as supplied, I don't think it can qualify as a "safe machine worklight".

By all means buy them for the useful components, but please don't consider them workshop-safe just because the light source is LED.

I also bought a couple of these when they were on offer a couple of years ago and I think they are excellent. I also use the IKEA lights and find the gooseneck far to limp - especially near to the vibration of my mill.

The only problem I have encountered is that they are very hot and I managed to melt one of the rubber grips on my mill when the light got too close. If the new ones are fitted with LED's then I will cerainly buy another pair.
