i agree the cones on the bb shell would be better most of the time but this frame will run 14.5 inch chainstay, a 2in tyre and triple chaining. so i want to tack the pipes with chainrings in place. the 1st frame actually runs this on 14in stay but this is a bit short and the tyre rubs under power

24in wheels! the bolts are purely for location not support on the jig. anyone know if cromwell tools sell series taps?

When I designed my frame I went with oval section fork blades for teh chain stays to get a bit more clearance, but things have moved on a bit since then, don't think Rockshoks had been invented back in '89.

You would be better off making a bolt with a plain section that will be a good fit in a hole in the jig and then the M8x1 thread beyond that, something like this. By adjusting the fit of teh die you will get a good fit in the crank axle.

PS good to know you were not trying those stay lengths with a 29" wheel
