Norman,

Sorry to put a downer on your secret ambition (only joking) to own a Mac.

If you care to look at the link below from PC Advisor you will be enlightened as to the reasons why you shouldn'twink and should stick to a PC.

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/videos/3493092/5-reasons-why-pcs-are-better-than-macs-mac-vs-windows-pc--which-is-best/

Len.P.

For the first time in a long time I wasted ten minutes reading the article you linked to Len.

The bottom line and one that has been true for many years, the PC is by far and away better value. You are not locked in either, which makes me crazy.

I once owned a good number of Mackintosh Compfusers (I actually skipped a MkII - threw it away, which was a bit of a clanger) and I am really pleased I no longer have to fork out the annual upgrades to Quark and Creative Suite. What a swizz that is.

My missus used to own the good old iPhone but when the last "update" bricked it (Didn't-Want-To-Know at apple) has gone to a Samsung Galaxy and thinks it's great. I love the Android OS and I love my Samsung Galaxy. If it has a fault, the screen is very fragile. I am up to my third screen and this one is cracked and I just cant be bothered changing it. You can't break it any more, It is broken! This works for me. YMMV.

graham.

Norman,

I doesn't want to tempt fate, but I switched to Mac in 2008 and haven't looked back since.

I was using XP and the endless hassles on both desktop and laptop just got too much after leaving hospital, and I cried enough.

Four months after buying an iPod touch, the 'halo' effect took hold and I ended up with a MacBook and a few months later a MacPro.

BSD? What's that?

Reboot after the smallest upgrade and machine hangs, a thing of memory.

Yes more expensive at first look, but dig deeper.

That famous Jobs' saying "It just works" as been proven as far as I'm concerned.

The new non-Jobs releases, however, of Mavericks and iOS7 are bad, with even 7.1 still crashing my iPad regularly.

Never thought I would ever compare Apple with MS, but they have dented their reputation.

Geoff - I'm no 'fan boy' but I DO expect things do as advertised.
