So here we are again. Cross slides today. The two on the right of the photograph, the one on the extreme right has a tag on it which says .050" per revolution, Imperial. The one next to it, the one in the centre has Metric markings on the dial. Do we know what they are off?

Cheers guys,
graham.

So, the last piece of the series

Would be nice to know what it was originally but right now I am using it on the mill to support stuff as I am setting up. A sort of Machine Jack on Steroids.

On another thread JS mentioned getting machine paint matched by having it scanned. If a known set of machines, including over years of variations could be scanned then a database could be built up for identifying at least the probable manufacturere of parts like this. Trouble is it is seriously expensive. However if someone in a University history department were persuaded to do a PhD in the history of machine manufacturers then that might provide the resources.

One possibility coming out of that is to commit a murder leaving a scrap of paint embedded in the fatal wound.......devil
