I am running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and all 3 start OK for me and do the searches OK, returning data.

The only problem I have seen is in the EIM one, if you enter Lilla into the Keyword, you get a error message. (Other Keywords seem to work OK ... a corrupt record perhaps)

Hello Hansrudolf,
Hello Dave.

To Hansrudolf:
I tested both applications ME_Indexes and MEW_Indexes in two machines at home and have no notice of the same or similar problems by other users.
I re-tested them a few minutes ago.
If the data file (MEW_idx.db374, E.._idx.db374) is not present in the same directory/folder than a message saying “SQLite....SQLITE_ERROR – No such table...” is displayed.
Please, see note bellow.

To Dave:
Thank You for Your help.
The E... Indexes is now OK, i hope...
You (and all people interested) can download the new release from the known link.
If You can, please, let me know if it's Ok now.

Note: You can find my e-mail address in the about option and use it to let me know more intrincated questions.

Best regards
Dias Costa

Hi Dias!

I'd like to publicly thank you for your hard work. You sent me the links a while ago, but it's only today I tried out the index search.

I found it easy to use and it came up with the sort of results that I expected - it was almost as fascinating as reading a copy of ME, going through LBSC and ETW's article history.

I found it best to put all four sets of files in one folder (don't copy over duplicated readme and .dll files), then I sent the master program (with the wolf paw icon) to the desktop as a shortcut. Simples!

The downside- in order to look up what I found I had to sort over 20 years' worth of MEs back into order.

Hello Neil.

Thank You for Your kind words about the applications.

Have You checked the possibility to do queries with AND or OR operators clicking with right button over the query form as proposed in the help file?

I hope in a few days time to have the MEW_Indexes data up to date. When ready i will make the updated data file only available for download.

Note: The paw icon pertains to the compiler i use. It's nice and as i had difficult in finding an appropriate icon for the Mag_Indexes menu i let it there.

Best regards
Dias Costa

Hello all.

There are new versions of the applications MEW_Indexes, ME_Indexes and EiM_Indexes here **LINK** .

Some bugs were corrected in all the three applications.
There is some new data.
MEW_Indexes is up to date to the issue number 192.
EiM_Indexes is up top date to the volume 34, issue 2.

As may be seen from my writing and my name, English is not my mother tongue.

Moreover I would like to follow the criteria of the Mr. Colin Usher and fear to fail to do so. So, I ask to some one available to check the data in the issues 191 and 192 of MEW and volume 34 issue 2 of EiM both for the language and data content.

To the people interested in Raspberry Pi, I would like to say that it's my purpose to, in a near future (months), migrate my poor (much poor) site to that platform. It's an amazing machine with great possibilities. I have it up and running continuously since the beginning of the month without a hitch.

Best regards

Dias Costa

Hello Dias,

I've spotted two minor errors in the earlier version -

First is that a search with no results gives a database conflict error and threatens corruption.

The second is an error with the database, except for Issues 1 and 13 years in the 1890's are muddled. 1898 becomes 1989 and 1899 become 1988 or something like that!

This may be an error with Colin Usher's database (seem's odd ifno-one else has noticed it!) or perhaps a copy routine is swapping 9s and 8s?

Hello Neil.

Thank you for your help and comments.

Theres a new version of MEW_Indexes **LINK**.

First is that a search with no results gives a database conflict error and threatens corruption.
This is corrected. It was an unneccessary message and it's meaning also was wrong.
It may appear in other places. If so, please click on OK and proceed.

The second is an error with the database, except for Issues 1 and 13 years in the 1890's are muddled. 1898 becomes 1989 and 1899 become 1988 or something like that!
Do you mean when comparing the ME_Index data with magazines themselves?
If not can you explain better providing me with an example?
There are some data in the years 1898 and 1947 about issues not published. See please the last lines of ME_Indexes halp file.

This may be an error with Colin Usher's database (seem's odd if no-one else has noticed it!) or perhaps a copy routine is swapping 9s and 8s?
This data is maintained by Mr. Bill Phillips and Mr. Chris Orchard **LINK**.

Hi Dias,

If you search for the year 1898 you only get articles from Issue 1, volume 1

If you search for the year 1899, you obnly get articles from Issue 13, Volume 2

So I looked at the "unsorted data", which starst with issue 1 page one and follow through the whole series.

It appears that all the articles from issues 2 to 12 and 14 to 24 are there in the index, but the years for them a given as 1989 and 1988.

I see the CSV versions of the indexes don't include the year; perhaps if you are automatically calculating these something is going wrong?

Hello Neil.

Thank you for your help and comments.

Without your help I hardly could find the errors. And yet the errors were made by me and are very obvious.
In the hope that the adopters of the applications will be free to maintain them with data coming from the creators of the basic files (Mr. Bill Phillips and Mr. Chris Orchard) and also honouring them I decided to use data from the original files. They are three: the main one with the articles, one with the volume number and the year and a third one with the periodicity and notes. So I don't calculate nothing... Only made manipulation errors.

So, thanks to you there's a new version of MEW_Indexes with the data corrected.

Hello all.

All the Indexes applications (MEW_Indexes, ME_Indexes and EiM_Indexes) have suffered improvements mainly in queries's response time.
Now, when you are querying, I show you, in light yellow, which are the better fields to get the quickest response.
Please, also see the help file available in each application.

You can download some or all of the applications from here: **LINK**

Best regards

Hello all,

Thanks to the data provided by Mr. Chris Orchard, there's a new version of ME_Indexes. Now the data covers up to the last volume (209).

There's also some new data in the EiM version.

You can download it from the usual place ***LINK*** .

Best regards
Dias Costa
