I recall a song that sums this up nicely, something like :- Nice one Jason, nice one son. Nice one Jason, let's have another one.
On a more serious note, well done and good to see the result. bill Edited By br on 25/07/2021 19:55:07 Hi Bill I remember that song Nice one Cyril It was surprising how well it was danced too in my late brother a my newly formed mobile Disco earlier that same year. Another very nice build JasonB. Regards Nick. |

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and considering the small flywheel and short conrod runs reasonably slowly. Also allowed my to do my first double acting piston valve as I had only done single acting before and first time with rod cross head guides. A video of it running, the table it is sitting on makes it sound a bit loud but soon quietens when I pick it up, it stopped because I put my finger over one of the exhausts. Also looks like a bit too much endplay in the crankshaft so will move the flywheel along a bit. |

I thought that it came down to a reasonably low speed considering such a small flywheel. Looks very nice also. Ron

![]() 2320 forum posts 452 photos | Morning Jason, I see from the ad that the Bassett engine is quite small at 7/16" bore and only 3.5" to the top of the cylinder. If you do make it would you go with those sizes or scale it up, I think it would be quite impressive at such a small size. Ron |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Well assuming they are not including the handle on the steam valve then it's only 1/4" shorter than the Gamages which was quite small and fiddly. For example the drilled steam passages to either end of the cylinder were only 1.2mm dia. I'll see haw it scales and maybe go for 12mm bore rather than 7/16" which would just make it a touch larger. |

![]() 2320 forum posts 452 photos | I watched the video again and realised how small the Gamages is when you picked it up. Out of interest is it the smallest stationary engine you have built or have you built anything smaller.? |
