A slight digression but, in my innocence, it came as a surprise to read this:
The Worden Mk3 has been developed from G H Thomas' original designs
I was not aware that GHT was the originator.

Neil Hemingway made much of his association with GHT. Somewhere in GHT's canon is a photo of the "prototype" of the Worden - if I can find it I will post but maybe someone else know where it is to be found.

MichaelG:

Pages 75 and 76 of the MEWM are what I had in mind. However, the commentary by William Bennett does not support the idea that GHT's grinder was the genesis for the Worden but rather for the Stent and Kennet.

If you haven't got the book I can scan the pages for you.

Thanks again yes

I have GHT’s two early books, but not MEWM ... so would be grateful for sight of those pages.

Pages 75 and 76 occur at the end of GHT's chapter On Parting Off where he suggests how to modify the standard form of tool with vee groove and vee front:

Sorry about the over-large text of page 75!

Worden users will have a better view as to whether the Hemingway attribution is justified; certainly the tilting table and graduated scale seem to be represented in the Worden design.

Incidentally, the penultimate paragraph is worth noting (despite its unconnected clauses!).

Excellent, thank you

”cheerfully inexpensive” made me smile
