Just to repeat what has been said already:-

  • Join a club
  • Talk to a boiler inspector about a new build, whether by you or someone else
  • Get experienced opinion on anything you want to buy

Also, naming no names, but there is at least one expert on silver soldering and at least one professional boiler builder on this forum so post your questions. I am neither and would not imply that I can see anything other than the most obvious - after that I ask!

Hi Dave, OK, that's something else I've learnt! I know someone building a Rob Roy, although his is stephensons, it does have a reversing lever?? I think a reversing lever is mentioned even with the Juliet 1, in the ME build notes anyway, but I'm guessing this is just a variant. There is SO much to learn! (but it's all enjoyable )

Original Juliet 'the simplest yet' has slip eccentrics, so no reverse lever, just push it in the direction you want it to go.
