Worked for me until I got an old electric hacksaw.

If your saw, in woodcutting configuration, runs at 3,000 f p min, you need a reduction of at least 30:1 for steel.

This will be hard to achieve with belts in two stages ( Would probably be two sets of 2" to 11" pulleys, in series ) If you were to opt for gear reduction, it could involve two sets of worm reduction boxes.

STOP PRESS!

I was recently given a small, brand new reduction box. Just checked and it appears to be 15:1.reduction.

So with a 2:1 belt reduction, this would do what is required.

If you are able to come to East Anglia, to collect it, it is yours, F O C. If this appeals, PM me.

Howard thank for the very generous offer but it's a little far to come for the gear box and as one comment said it's best not to try and force a wood saw into cutting metal.

I wouldn't want to spoil the original Inca saw so I will keep an eye out for s small bench bandsaw.

Best regards Mick

INCAs are very good machines to own Mick and much prized by their owners - including yourself I'm sure.

So I'm pleased to see your post above and I hope that your INCA continues to give you the same good service and pleasure in use that mine has. Good luck with finding your new metal saw.

Regards,
