![]() 1129 forum posts 1 photos | Many marine compasses have large iron balls either side of the binnacle to reduce/adjust the localised magnetic forces and promote a more accurate compass reading. Most boats will have a table showing the error for all significant points of the boats heading aftre the boat has been 'swung ' at anchor and readings noted.
