429 forum posts 268 photos | I run my watchmakers lathe (and my drill presses and polishers) from a Proxxon BFW 40 spindle motor. They are not cheap but very smooth and silent. They run from 900 -6000rpm (gearless) and provide loads of torque at the slowest speeds. Eliminates the need for a countershaft which can cost as much as this motor on the net. Not sure of the actual power but it consumes 250w so my guess is about 1/5 hp? Steve
