I prefer to use Firefox too.

Here is a small insight into the browsers used by visitors to our site, over a small period of time. I will not specify the date period concerned, but as you can see from the below, a high percentage use Chrome:

At No.4 is IE. Breakdown of IE versions below:

As you can see, there are still a number who use IE 7 and 8...versions which our new site fails to support. So this information tells me that we may loose some visitors pritty soon, because it is going to be difficult to 'fix' our site so that it works on these versions.

Our new site works fine on Versions 9, 10, 11, Edge, even though some buttons look 'different' on these browsers, compared to Chrome and Firefox, on different screen sizes...and they all say that they work to an 'industry standard'...go figure!

The point is, certain tracking tools such as Google Analytics are essential for sellers to understand certain habits of a visitor, in order to try and better their site, but at the same time respecting privacy issues. Most 'respectable' e-commerce sites deploy certain tracking tools such as Google Analytic now days. Even Google Analytics have certain boundaries with which they have to comply under EU law, which happens to be stronger than the U.S.

I have no wish to get into a debate or argument on this subject. I just wanted to show the above snapshot to give you guys an idea of browsers being used currently by popularity....even though I too prefer Firefox.

I think Chrome can opt out of Google Anal ............... Ketan. Others too.

I suspect this is an interesting aspect of concerns in some quarters about what the EU may eventually do about this area in general - if they dare. It wouldn't surprise me if they did do something about companies storing persistent data on peoples machines but then they have been doing that in a round about way for a long time - certain services store the data instead. Who ever came up with the nice name of Cookies was clearly a comedian - well by now most people know he is.

It all depends on our own feelings and views. I personally have no objections on visiting a site which uses GA.

However, there are some sites which use other tools to get information about the visitor, and then target them with ads when they are using some search engine. That is the bit I have personal objection to, but that is my personal view.
