Thread: Globe valve as a gas regulator? |
14/01/2017 09:25:51 |
Neil is correct - poor terminology on my part. Thanks for the responses. I now think it is a needle valve I require. |

Ive had a look at those for sale ont web and they just seem to have a single screw valve, dont look like globe valves which is wyh I question what is required - thanks |

I need a gas tap to regulate butane output from small gas tank to ceramic burner - will a standard globe valve do or does it need something special? |
Thread: Last Night's Astro Image |
09/01/2017 20:47:49 |
Thanks Michael, I followed the links as you recommended but it took me to a page all about computer stuff which seems to explain the theory behind taking the pictures and not what is actually in them - maybe i missed something. |

They are amazing pictures to be sure, and I have a question. Im sure I could google it but what are they? Planets, stars, big lumps of rock, could they possibly hold life? I guess a lot of gasses? How far away...very interesting stuff

Thread: Take a look? |
30/12/2016 11:34:30 |
Mr Stevenson, no one is laughing, least of all me. This thread had opened up another interesting topic and by virtue of it reaching five pages is something which clearly interests others, who I suspect are not laughing either! Do others see this as a 'hand grenade post'? I will be quite happy to cease input and also cease designing boilers for members for free if it helps? |
Thread: Advice on DROs for a mill |
30/12/2016 09:04:03 |
My budget would only stretch to glass rails and from china, the whole package being under £180 for 2 axis. Whilst there were no instructions I can honestly say that I cannot fault it now that it is set up. |
Thread: Brass tube for Smokebox |
29/12/2016 10:00:38 |

Thread: metric or imperial lead screw |
28/12/2016 10:08:01 |
Metric saw the light of day in the 1700's so depending on where in the world it was made or destined for it really could be either. |
Thread: Help wanted . someone with a mill |

27/12/2016 20:42:37 |
Thanks Jason, |

I have some precision boring to do in a piece of 6" dia copper tube. I dont have room for vee blocks so wondered what you would do to locate it securely without the risk of distorting or damaging it? |

Thread: Take a look? |
27/12/2016 10:09:21 |
First off it is claimed to have been made by Blackgates, not the boilermaker. The pressure vessel regulations are quite specific as to what is covered by the CE scope and boilers of this size are exempt, but I guess if you dont put it on no one will buy it. Doesnt look like Blackgates standard to me. |
27/12/2016 09:55:46 |
Anyone else think this looks a bit suspect when advertised as new and professionally built?
And its actually against EU regulations to put a CE mark on it, but thats a whole other can of worms!

Thread: Fly press arms |
27/12/2016 00:13:17 |
I totally agree with one and all, but two weeks of searching and nothing, regardless of cost and a tight deadline made me go to the dark side. God bless my soul. |
