Thread: New Gib For Me Elliott 00 Juniormil |
30/06/2016 20:38:36 |
Hi All, Thank you for replying, all interesting ideas. John, Your idea sounds very good to me I may even try it. Maybe a piece of hardwood would do best. I see only one floor in your plan, me and wood are not friends it doesn't like me and I don't like it so we stay apart but if that's what it takes then I'll have a go. Mark, thanks for the drawing I have downloaded it and I'll take a closer look later. I got my homemade hoist out and took the bed off and turned it over and in a spurt of inspiration, using a couple of bits of silver steel I had, I managed to get the taper angle by measuring the back and front of the dovetails I then drew it in TurboCAD and measured the angle. Whilst writing this I just had a thought if I put marks drawing into TurboCAD I can merge the two and check the angles. Ian |

Hi all, I am new to the forum so please excuse any cock up's. I purchased an Elliott Juniormil in the latter part of 2015 (Which incidentally was a complete wreck) but now almost finished. I say almost because when I bought the machine it came without the Gib that corrects the bed (or Y axis if you prefer). As there is no gib that came with it I can't measure the old one. does anyone have the dimensions for this mill. the mill bed is on the bench at the moment and makes it an opportune moment to tackle this job. Thanks. I would appreciate any help or advice Edited By Ian Allgood on 26/06/2016 08:22:03 |

Hi, All, I'm new to the forum, so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Ian, I live in western Cambridgeshire. I am a Model Engineer and I have been modeling for 12 years now. I am building a 3 inch Traction Engine designed By Bill Hughes as a 1 1/2" model I am using his drawings and doubling the measurements. The engine is based on the Allchin No. 3251 Royal Chester. My Machine shop consists of an Elliott Juniormil (Not a typo), a Boxford AUD Lathe and a Clarkson mk1 Tool Cutter Grinder |

Hi, My first post here so Hi toi you all. I have an Elliott Juniormill I bought last year. Amongst the very long list of problems it had/has is the Y direction Gib Strip, when I first put it together I found the y dirction was very stiff, so I loosened the strip to find it had been packed out with a bit of shim. If there is anyone out there that can give me the dimensions for the gib so I can fabricate a new one I would be extreemely grateful. Ian |
Thread: Centec Vertical head Heellllllpppp |

Hi Norman, Thanks for taking the time to help. Unfortunately, I have spoken to Tony and his manual does'nt have any drawings of the internal workings of the vertical head. In fact I think I have a copy of the manual he is selling I downloaded from pilotltd.net website. Ian |

Hi, Can anyone help please, I have recently bought a Centec 2A milling machine with a standard (Not the moving quill type) vertical head. The vertical head was in a pretty bad state and half the components are missing. I am starting with the horizontal section I have removed all the paint and rubbish from the casting and have sourced the bearings (for both castings) my problem is when i mock built the spindle of the horizontal section I seem to have a lot of spindle left over and sticking out. this means there is something missing like a spacer or maybe there is a very long spigot on the pully (that I do not have) Can anyone supply a drawing, photograph, or even an explanation of how it goes back together, any help would be very much appreceated, thanks Ian |
