The warco 918 is a good old lathe but has its weaknesses one of which is the compound but the mod for this is well worth doing to stiffen up the toolpost. Ive also converted mine to a treadmill motor which works brilliantly, also the Dro. |

I've just upgraded from a Clarke mini lathe to a warco 918 and while the 918 seems to be working fine when I turn on the power to the 918 the lathe hums selecting forward or reverse works fine im just wondering if the hum is how all 918's are. Any information on this appreciated. |

I did check to make sure it wasnt rubbing but the motor does seem to be angled downward at the pulley end . |

Checked the lathe tonight and thankfully it was just a loose drive belt, Re-tensioned and now working fine.. |

Hi I would appreciate some help with a problem with my clark 300m lathe, When I started to turn a piece of metal this evening at quite a low speed a rumbling sound came from the chuck area and the chuck almost stalled setting the lathe at a very slow speed I was able to hold the stock bar in the chuck and stop the chuck moving but there was still a rattling noise coming from the headstock as if a gear or belt was slipping.. Before I have to strip the headstock I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what this might be. Thanks in anticipation. Trevor. |
