Thread: Cross feed problem |

Similar problem with my ML7 last year but on retraction of the cross slide. Found that the CI locating pierce which I had made for my zeroable dial was picking up on the cross slide, I replaced the existing small tufnol washer with one I made from Teflon to cover the whole of the two mating surfaces which resolved the problem . Trust this is helpful. Bill. |

Hi Alan,
I posted a thread on the 17/05 /11 showing a zeroable dial for the ML7 which I designed & made some 8 to 10 years ago. I can only say that this was a nice project embracing all the lathe principles with a milling operation as well. Should you be interasted, can forward machining drawings.

To Doug Johnston,
Hi, Bill here.
Iv'e just sent you a reply to your query but I think its failed so here goes. I have a 2 inch
filler cap on the bottom of my gun for filling purposes, there is a small vent hole in the upper part of the cylinder for venting the air when operating the gun , if oil is coming out of the vent hole then I would anticipate that the main oil seal has failed, this is easily replaceable. I'm not sure I understand your problem exactly but I hope this is of help to you.

Hi Doug, Ive just come in from eating an Indian so I have only just picked up your post.
Conversion was fairly straight forward, I have only made the brass adaptor to fit on
the grease gun as I have not had any problems from the filling side. The adaptor
was profiled to access the reduction gear and pulley .( I can just hear my wife moaning
about the time//). Doug, I can send you details if required together with an image tomorrow . Must go.

Hi,
I converted an old telcalemit grease gun some eight years by making a brass adaptor
housing a very small O'ring to give a snug fit over the oil nipples on my ML7, no problems with oil leaks and cost effective.

Thread: Adjustable micro dials |
20/05/2011 12:03:50 |
Hi David, yes you are quite right, the plastic numbers are adhesive backed which i purchased from a local graphic's supply shop. Supprisingly, they have stood up to the wear & tear over the last eight years quite well.
I deduece from your post that you already have adjustable dials?, however, if you do
require any further information on the one's i made please let me know.
Regards, Bill. |

Interested in forum post on micro dials 11/05/2011. I acquired a very old ML7 some eight years ago & my first project, which i
found very interesting, was to design & make an adjustable micro dial.
Methods used & manufacture turned out to be very accurate & user friendly.
All operations were carried out on the lathe.
I attach 2 images which i trust will be helpful to any one aspiring to make
their own adjustable dial.
Gladly forward details if required.
Bill.
