Thread: Sieg/Arc X3 CNC conversion
20/10/2018 09:10:32

I have an older Sieg/Arc X3 CNC mill conversion. In fact one of the first I believe. It has developed some backlash in the X axis. It appears to be in the ballnut area or the ballnut housing. There is no backlash in the connector between screw and stepper. - I seem to remember that something here is prone to coming loose. But have checked everything I can see short of dismantling. If any of you guys can shed any light on the problem. I would be extremely grateful for your advice,

Thread: Eccentric pump clack?
14/10/2018 14:56:05

Setting up a horizontal mill engine that is fitted with an eccentric water pump. There appears never to have been a clack valve fitted to the delivery side piping. Will it need one? "Not much used to statics engines!"

Any advice appreciated.

Thread: Drill grinder mods

Thread: G-Code editor with back plotting
03/10/2018 06:08:07

Tried Camotics out of interest. Could anyone advise why nothing appears in the simulation screen even though my code is running and the code is viewable on the code screen?

Thread: A Big Treat coming for Readers of MEW
02/10/2018 14:55:41

What provision will there be for CAM since it is a requirement of full usability. I see that AlibreCAM 2018 is just short of £500 plus the initial £200 odd for Atom. Just to put some perspective on it.

Still a reasonable price all up. But to my parsimonious mind it might be more interesting if an integrated package had "a bit of deal" attached.

Thread: Repairing a Verdict Dial Test Indicator
21/09/2018 06:49:14

If anyone has had one repaired by Verdict? Could you give an example of the cost of repair please, Of course each case will be different . But any examples would be helpful. Probably to all interested parties here.

Thread: Falcor
18/09/2018 11:54:27

Is there any way that a lowly MEW subbie can get this series of Falcor articles? - (Sensible replies only please)

I have three of these here if you want any spares. They all worked well for a couple of months and all ended up making smoke.

Thread: DTI Right angle lever
14/08/2018 08:29:40

Thread: 1/32 Taper pin
20/07/2018 09:03:32

I am working on a steam engine plan that calls for a 1/32" taper pin to be inserted into a crosspin. I can of course make the pin quite easily. But how would I cut the hole. Is there a cutter or drill available or must I make a "D" bit.

Any advice much appreciated.
