Thread: Brass paint
21/08/2017 14:22:10

Phil - yes I meant a smokebox door.

I have not purchased anything yet. But much food for thought. Thanks to everyone.

Finely sealed and sanded wood and MDF. To 400 grit. Just found some sprays on the bay. But not much coverage for your bucks. Trying to reproduce/model, a Burrell firebox door so quite a big surface, even just the lettering and rings.

Would anybody have a solution for a paint to give some appearance of brass. Possibly a modified gold?

Just so that you know! - A Mendel 90 does not fit in, or under an Ikea Lack table.

Doh!!!

Thread: 3D Printed Wind Turbine

Thanks Bazyle. That just cost me £17 for Mr. Piggots book. This could get obsessive!!

Thanks all. Afraid I keep changing my mind on this according to the reading/viewing that I do, I determine to print the rotors, simple cup units or vertical vane at this moment. But too open minded to begin yet. More delving required.

Tyre kicking at the prospect of 3D printing a Wind Turbine. u/Tubed myself to death. Has anyone considered it? - It seems popular to use old servo motors with a capacitor. But what happened to the idea of using car alternators. If you are learned in such matters and would share your wisdom. I for one would be pleased to enrol as a disciple.

Nick - Mine too! So, I guess I will take a punt on the Bridge nylon. - Finishing my cabinet just now as this is recommended for both ABS and Nylon. Will let you know how I get on. Believe shrinkage is issue with each type of nylon. So will do a shrinkage test and adjust the model to suit, as I need some fairly accurate parts.

Nick - I am just about to try Nylon printing. Have you tried Bridge type? Supposedly less hygroscopic. Would welcome any further nylon processing advice if you have a moment.

I dug out from the loft, a bunch of Mifa square leaded pencils with many different lead hardness`s. Took me back 50+ years. Put them back and got on with Fusion 360??

Thread: Small cable connecting

Brian - Thanks. Ordered a pack of those. Never seen them before. - I had best buy a tent too, in case things get out of hand.

02/06/2017 11:19:29

Chris - yes thanks I have considered both options but I have 10 wires in each bunch x3 off steppers. This gets a bit bulky even with spacing out. Probably not a more suitable solution, but thought I would inquire!

02/06/2017 10:56:51

I am upgrading an old CNC router and have lots of small stepper cables to join up new to old. Could use small "chocolate blocks" but would prefer something smaller, like a little crimp or solder ferrule. Then I can group them together tidily with some heat shrink.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Got a link to the Arc reference please? Cannot find it!

Thread: Prusa i3 Build

+ one for the Sintron. Transformed my old Mendel90 when coupled with an E3D head. As previous be cautious about too much retract, especially if running a Bowden tube (which was also a big improvement in the lightly built Mendel90). - No connection with either party, just a contented client.

Thread: Inverter problem
27/04/2017 14:28:40

Thank you Gentlemen! I was advised to use the Starter as an emergency stop. Wish now I had not been. However live and learn. John yes I have a large hole through my hunting boots.

Once again I do much appreciate the kind advise.

27/04/2017 09:21:45

Apologies for delay. Much testing. Finally put the inverter onto another system and it is, with all the settings you guys have given, working OK. It appears that the problem is in the overload relay in the starter box. Just waiting for an uprated relay, as in the other system. Sorry if I got you chasing the wrong fox.

John - Parameter 222 was at 4.5A, so increased to 6.4 (max.) No change.

Dave - I do have quite a long mains connection. Need to move the lathe nearer to the mains box. This was in the todo box but will expedite that today. Thanks!

Daveb - Front bearing "seem`s" OK but will get the meter on it later today for load test.

Very much appreciate the help and advice you guys are giving me.

20/04/2017 18:54:21

John - Sorry, no error codes displayed. Unit just shuts down with a quiet click!

20/04/2017 18:47:48

John - Parameter 205 I LIMIT is currentlyset at 6.5A. Manual says 0.5-1.5 x Ln. Rated output current Ln is 4.3A. So I presume that 1.5 x 4.3 = 6.45 makes that correct?
