A meeting of minds!
Today a meeting was held at the Whissendine track site to discuss proposals for an extension to the ground level 5" and 7.25" track. A number of ideas have been bounced around to pretty much double the length from our current 550 feet to just over 1000 feet of mainline. Work will almost certainly involve improving the steaming bay facilities too.
This decision along with plans already to fully finish the new club building before the June 1st and 2nd open weekend will drastically improve facilities for our members and visitors. All this is without taking our eye off the ball with general site housekeeping and maintenance.
New members are always welcome if you fancy coming and getting stuck in! There is always work to be undertaken no matter what skills you have... Here's to making 2019 our best year yet!

Hi JC. Next running day will be on Sunday the 20th oh January. I will publish a full list of dates in the coming weeks. A good rule of thumb is the third Sunday of the month with occasional extras added in.

It was good to meet you John. Glad you all enjoyed the day! I was a little busy all day with having the little one with me too but was enjoyable all the same! The turnout was good considering the poor weather the day before! I'll be up again probably boxing day to test a few things with the loco but the next event like you say is the New Years Day Steam Up And meet. As last time all welcome!

Hi John. Usually we go between 10 and 11. I think there will be a few of us up there if the weather holds at least

Hi Steve,

if you publish a club newsletter, or even if you don't, I would be pleased to include MMDMES in Club News. Tell me what you have been doing, send me newsletters, photos, press releases etc., or just chat when you can. Perhaps appoint a publicity officer? Send your future meetings schedule to Martin Evans, for inclusion in Club Diary.

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I have been appointed Publicity/Media officer, Please let me know how best to contact you and Martin

Regards

Steve

Hi Andrew.
I am glad you enjoyed yourself. It was a very good turn out and reflects well for the future meets. A few rides were had and given. I'd have taken more photographs but I couldn't give my engine away!

Small update to the page today of the running session. I will endeavour to get more non railway activities featured over the winter months.
Cheers

Thanks for your kind comments Ketan. It was indeed a sad loss to the community in Rudi' s passing. He will be missed by many

Hello Frank. Thanks for the feedback. I too attended those open days stretching back 25 years at least! It's true that the show has been slightly off the boil of late. It is my personal mission to reverse that if I can! The only way we can do this is by advertising and encouraging more exhibits. We are not a rich club so rely on a lot of good will. Hopefully we can return the goodwill by putting on a good show again! I will pass on your comments to the committee
Cheers

Hi JC. I must add that the Facebook page has only been set up for the 2 weeks or so since Warwick. I am a loco man at heart and can only report on what I have in front of me. I can assure you we are all inclusive of all forms of engineering but for the last few weeks we have been catching up with housekeeping at the track site so that is all that has been reported. We had our club meeting this Monday gone but as it was the annual auction there was not much to report. Hopefully as time passes the content on the Facebook page will reflect our clubs true and diverse interests. We will be at the track site this weekend, it would be great to see you there?

Just a brief update on this little known society. We are looking to raise our profile slightly and a couple of members have been having extra working parties to improve the track site ready for the next running days.

we generally run on the Third Sunday of each month and visitors are welcome with or without an engine. usual rules apply!

We have just created a Facebook page which is visible even to those that aren't users on Facebook, This will be updated with news and events from the club. If you are on Facebook give the page a like to keep abreast of the news!

Thread: Drawings for 5"gauge 8f locomotive
28/10/2012 11:25:22

Wilf,

I too was interested in this, as I am suprised there isn't such thing as a 5" gauge 8F. I was advised the best option was to scale up Martin Evans' Euston from 3.5" Gauge. Another option is to use the 7.25" gauge drawings from 17d Miniatures and scale them down (I would think these would be the better drawings to use) Although their website seems to be down at the moment.

Thread: Article submissions

Surely David, they are too old to be used now? All of my contributors details will have changed since then anyway, I have moved both house and bank since they were submitted!

Hi Steve

Posts that do nothing to help others may be removed or the threads get unwieldy.

regards David

I was merely agreeing with the other posters on this site, The articles I wrote was for Stapleford Miniature Railway (29 aug 2010, 1700 words, 10 hi res pictures) and the NSMEE Visiting clubs rally (4 and 5th sept 2010, 1250 words, 12 hi res pictures). I feel the same as AES, I have put my valuable time into writing and producing these articles (the NSMEE was requested by you) for zero return. When I questioned you on the 3/1/11 whether they were still going to be used and your reply was that they were 'high on the list to be used'.

The rest as they say is history.
