Thread: Lo-cost Workshop Storage. Take-away containers, Good/Bad or?
05/04/2013 20:58:21

I have quite a few takeaway containers in use in the shed. They have decent storage capacity for storing small tools and small parts and they are easily stacked one on top of the other. Being airtight I find that anything stored in the containers will not rust. The containers seem to last well too.

I also use instant potatoe (smash) tins for storage they are robust and last for years.

Thread: Portable engine by Tony Webster.

Thank you for your replies. I look forward to the restart of the articles.

I notice that once again the 2" scale portable engine by Tony Webster has disappeared from Model Engineer. The last article mentioned that design faults etc had all been corrected.

Have a complete set of working drawings for this engine been produced and are there intentions to make them available to purchase?

Thread: White metal - its availability & uses ?

I am thinking that whitemetal may be useful for model tracion engine parts. Steering wheels, brake wheels etc.

Thread: What is the truth about "Tich"and "Minnie"?
14/12/2010 19:40:44
Thanks everyone for your info regarding the Minnie pump. The horn plate mounted pump looks like a good idea. I think I have seen a set up like that before on a Durham and North Yorkshire 2" scale traction engine?

Apologies for going off topic.
I have just read the comments regarding problems with the 1" scale "Minnie" boiler pump. I have not yet made the pump for my own Minnie but would I be better to make and fit an injector to feed the boiler instead of spending a lot of time making a pump that may not function effectively? Has anyone fitted a Minnie with an injector?

Thread: 1/12" scale Burrell traction engine Model Engineer article request.

Thank you everyone for your replys and helpful information.

The version that I am refering to is the 1 1/2" Burrell that was designed some years ago by a Mr Fred Stone.

I have been searching for a source of  drawings for the 1 1/2" scale Burrell traction engine but without success. May this engine be considered as a future construction article for Model Engineer magazine?
