Thread: Is Brass suitable

You say it is an instant hot water dispencer, if so be careful as it may be you are causing a problem by replacing a plastic componant with a metal one.

Basically if the water is heated in certain types of "instant" heaters, the water contained is live, and so including a metal part where a plastic part is required may just render yourself or your loved ones liable to shake hands with the national grid.

Thread: Wheel crank pin
01/04/2012 10:07:56

I am building a 5 inch duchess, and time has come to mount the coupling rods, however the drawings do not include the leading wheel crank pin detail.

From what I can make out, the leading wheel pins have a recessed fixing arrangement or the retaining cap is a form of screw, suffice to say I am not a fan of just bodging it as so far the loco is fairly close to prototype,

Does anybody have any information and or pictures of how the outer cap for the leading wheel crank pin is retained in full size, and if this is tricky to duplicate in scale then a suggested suitable workaround?

Regards

Simon
