Thread: WM18 - Z Axis power feed
23/07/2019 16:45:24

The one i linked is 40rpm but also 7rpm???

i seem to remember mine is 50 rpm (i’m Not able to check until Friday)

suppose it depends how fast you want but i flick the switch and rarely have to wait long till the heads where i need

23/07/2019 16:08:41

This one would do nicely

**LINK**

and has a right angled drive saving you buying gears

That’s a parvalux geared 24v motor easily available off ebay and with this motor you would have to put a clutch in as you wont be easily overrunning it if you want a manual handle too..why you want a handle?

Thread: Universal T milling machine from Chester : Issue with Starting
10/07/2019 09:22:05

Those diagrams dont seem to be of your machine

theres no VFD for a start

Is yours single phase or 3 phase?

09/07/2019 16:48:55

Turn off all the QF switches 1-6 and turn them back on

sometimes these trip without showing

after then we need a diagram

Thread: Genmitsu

I would say not

its as cheap as a cnc can get and still work

theres no software with it...mach 3 is £120 ish or the free mentioned

the motor will drive you mad with the lack of power and noise

soft wood ,foam but no metals at all not too sure about acyrilics

and it has a very small work envelope

Thread: What are these wheels /tyres?
19/06/2019 11:22:45

Thanks Jason

i had searched for “all terrain vehicle” to no avail

”atv “ brings up loads !!!!!

19/06/2019 11:02:26

Can anyone recognise these wheels tyres? And any idea where i can get a pair?d953791b-b83a-4c21-b9c9-7f37b3d8d64f.jpeg

where are you Rob?

I can do you a small 3 phase motor and vfd cheaply if you want

and a 3phase and vfd is only 240v so no more hurty than what you have now

The coming to an abrupt stop is the brake circuitry working perhaps?

Thread: mark 1 1/2 student with an inverter
11/06/2019 12:56:19

So mount your inverter VFD and wire in the 3 wires out to your motor after charging the motor terminals to delta from star...

its best to supply the power to the vfd via an isolater

you can use your original handle switch and the reverse switch easily it don’t make any difference low or high voltage

your start switch just wants a normally open pair

your reverse wants a common to a NC one way and to a NO for reverse so whichever way your reverse switch is it sends a supply to the vfd to start in the relevant direction

You do need to be able to use a meter on continuity to work out the switches

you may also have a switch to the key on the cupboard and one on the gear guard

POST pictures of what you have if you are unsure

Short answer NO

You need to wire directly to the motor from the VFD

then use the switches to control the VFD

Exactly the machine i have with VFD but i have a clutch too

Thread: DC Treadmill Motor
17/05/2019 09:57:23

I don’t want to rain on your project Mervyn but i will say that direct drive wont work without a reduction of perhaps 15 fold...just saying

16/05/2019 10:25:53

If this is to replace the manual handle for lifting the head of your mill that motor wont work you need a geared motor that has an output of perhaps 60 rpm.

look for one of these on ebay a parvalux geared motor 12 or 24v

dsc00854 (large).jpg

You only then need a low amps ( 3 or so ) power supply and a simple dpdt switch

take the clamping mechanism out and look at it

its a bolt with a collar ( loose) that has a piece machined out of it to fit round the shaft

and a nut at the other end with a similar part machined out.

when you tighten the 2 pieces pull together and grip the shaft

theres no moving of the casting

Thread: Larger VFD/Motors

Its an Emerson commander control techniques one

its by far my preferred choice of vfd’s if i’m Buying one new

easy to configure and the instruction book is only 40 pages long and they seem to do everything i’ve Wanted i’ve Probably installed 40 of these on various machines in day job

This meter is showing the load on the single phase input on my 3hp 2.2 kw motor running via a vfd under no load and running the spindle with a cut on ,on a Colchester student
