Thread: Where'd MEW-213 go?
15/05/2014 23:26:01
Posted by Neil Wyatt on 15/05/2014 18:14:36:

Hello Ray,

If you want to copy me into any emails you sent, i can investigate for you. My experience of the subs team so far has been that they sort problems out pretty fast. [email protected]

If you found 213 at a newsagent anywhere in Australia, it must be a local distribution issue as all the newsagent copies are sent over as a single shipment. I'm afraid MTM can't do much about that, as it's up to the national distributors to decide where and when they send the copies they get.

Neil

Thanks Neil for the interest and reply

Yes even the newsagent I had organised keeping the mag for me said they are experiencing problems. Its not my first time with UK mags the distributors as you say share what they get where they feel like.
I will take up your offer and send a copy of the email to you, my main concern is the 6 week wait to get online access thats highly unfair having paid for it.
I bet they don't allow 6 week grace when the subscription finishes.
There is no way of telling what issue I'll get first so in the mean time I have to still keep watch and get 214 215 maybe 216 which you guys are up to.

Thread: Favourite old tools.......
15/05/2014 08:51:33

Favourite old tool thats a difficult one as I have some of my Dad's old woodworking gear

Our old next door neighbour an ex-navel engineer gave me some of his old tools scribes, callipers, drills, centre finder

Others I have like the Engineers clamp made at school and scribe post then others I procured in my own working life as well as after.

I attend here in Sydney The Traditional Tools Group sale each year a good source of old tools. As well as at field days. I am not a collector as such if the tool can't be of use its doesn't follow me home.

I know I was in anxiety mode for months trying to locate a missing double wire/sheet metal gauge I had had since my first year as an apprentice. It was found in a draw almost placed so i would find it.

Thread: ML7 Restoration
15/05/2014 08:38:02

A nice project. Thanks for the pictorial WiP will follow with interest.

I am tempted to do the same although my ML7 has been cared for by previous owners a tidy up would make it like new and give me the chance to become more intimate with the workings.

I am following the article in MWE of upgrading the headstock bearings.

Will you be going this way or keeping them original?

Thread: Where'd MEW-213 go?
15/05/2014 07:31:54

I'll amend the above I travelled further a field today and scored 213 hard copy at last. This after checking in with where I have the mag saved for me they still had not got it in.

15/05/2014 00:54:12

This might be a little off track but I have had the same problem with 210 213 and 214 but NOT online version the hard copies.
Here in western Sydney 5 newsagents around me and not one have seen them come in. So I have now missed 3 running articles. So I subscribed hard and digital and now have to wait 6 weeks before I see either.

Why can't I get a reply to emails from the subscription people??
Why can't an email be sent with the code for the digital access?

Thread: Myford drip feed oiler servicing
12/05/2014 23:34:00
Posted by Martin Millener on 21/09/2013 11:30:33:

**LINK** ...helped me out a few weeks ago.

The Figure 28 shows a needle valve version, but the photos show a ball and spring in the lower part - mine were ball and spring. Took me ages (without that web page) to realise there are two parts to the oiler that screw together :embarassed smiley:

Edited By Martin Millener on 21/09/2013 11:32:44

Hi I have just subscribed and joined up here although an avid watcher over the fence.

Martin glad my post on the drip oilers was of some help, I decided to photograph the whole process never having dismantled one before and not being able to locate any decent instructions anywhere.
I had trouble and still do with the newer brass one draining oil but I am now putting this down to wrong oil which was supplied along with the lathe.

I envy you guys as far as access to parts etc with GDP and mighty $ difference I have to wait till its higher to buy stuff from UK sources.

Thread: New Registration and PW problem
12/05/2014 23:24:09
Posted by Neil Wyatt on 12/05/2014 19:12:27:

Hi Raymond,

I'm guessing it's because you share the account with the 'Get Woodworking' forum. the MTM server handles these as a single user account so if you change the password for one it changes it for the other...

Is it possible that this is the cause of your woe?

Neil

PS Sorry for the slow response - odd connectivity problems here. Thanks for holding the fort by 'phone, Jason

Hi Neil
Also thanks for the response

No don't think that was the problem but you never know with computers and co-joined forums.

I had no idea till I was signing up that Get Woodworking and ME/MEW forum were linked, this is a good think means I can sign in once and use both forums smiley.

I have uploaded a screen shot of the error message which still comes up after I signed in this morning. First time rejected then 2nd ok but with that message still showing.

Hope the image helps sort the problem.

Ps is it just me being soooooo far away downunder that loading the forum and even main page is slower than a snail?

Ray

Answer to No 3 is that both posts were waiting for approval, I've moved them into one thread. I'm only on the phone at the moment hopefully another Mod can look into things for you.

J

Thanks for the reply and for moving them together.

I had not originally seen the thread moderation text.blush

Hi Just subscribed today and signed up

1 Had to rest my password once
2 getting "an unknown user and password" yet signed in after trying 3 times once using another machine.

3 Thread I created earlier today in regards to password not working and above is not here. I note it is pre-moderated etc guess the time difference is a major factor.

I am not a newbie to Forums but open to suggestions and comments on
Why this is happening with the sign in.

Oh I am using Firefox latest version
any other info i can supply glad too

Hi signed up and subscribed today been reading for some time on and off.

After signing up and registering I signed out for some period of time say 2 hrs.

Came back and my password would not work I had to use the reset PW. I hope this isn't a normal problem anyone else had the same issue.

I never use "Remember Me" or "Stay Signed in" etc etc always sign in to any forum each time.
