So are you sorted or not? If it works under edge and not Firefox, I think we can safely assume it's a setting somewhere in Firefox causing the issue. Neil Neil NOT in Firefox which is preferred browser. I now agree Firefox MAY be part of the issue but not altogether as all other browsers used insisted the latest Flash Player is used therefore the server is demanding an upgrade refusing to use earlier versions. But as stated I haven't had Flash on my machines for some time and still been able to view the mags in the past. |
13/07/2018 07:40:25 |
So the server has been updated to latest Flash Player? It then asks us to update but somehow Firefox isn't allowing that to come through I wonder if that means Firefox knows something others don't and halts it in its tracks? Oh well There goes another Digital subscriber only Printed for me from now on its not worth the hassle or the additional $$$. |

Jason please go back through my posts and read them. i have already stated I tried Microsofts Edge it responded with "I needed to download the latest Adobe Flash Player"!! You actually said it asked for the latest flash when you tried edge, then went BACK to Firefox and loaded Flash. No mention that you then went back to edge after loading the latest flash. But now that latest flash is on the machine and you tried Edge again today you get access. "I just opened Microsofts Edge signed in went to Mag archives clicked on mags and got a message I required to load up Adobe Flash. So came back to Firefox my prefered browser you know the one I am having the response from ( I should say no response from). I installed the latest Adobe Flash and low and behold still the same error message even after closing down and restarting Firefox just to make sure it was fully installed and yes I click the check box to ON in Flash. " J Thats right Jason but I have not loaded up Flash Player for two years across the whole spectrum. Flash Player is well known to be troublesome full of holes. |

I've known of the demise of Flash for years .....
As far as I'm aware you NEED Flash player to view those magazines. If you were able to view something without Flash player, I think I must have been wrong about what you are actually trying to look at. If you mean the forum digital archive of bot ME & MEW accessible only via the forum yes thats the one. Yes and we pay via the Digital subscription to access that only with the digital subscription the main reason for taking that form of subscription as well as printed. You do not get access to he forums archive digital section under Print Only. |
Thread: Model Engineer Microsoft latest App Update!!!!!!!!! |
13/07/2018 01:05:48 |
The lovely Kate who oversees all and runs in the background out of sight has emailed and requested that anyone who has updated their App's on any device to please contact her. Hi Ray, The MyTime Media Apps are set up by the same company as the PocketMags app so it would make sense that if you have encountered problems with one that you have had the same problem with the other. What device is it that you are using the apps on? I have enquired again with them on why the app would ask you to uninstall as this seems very strange (according to my IT contact). I have also asked for some customer care reporting to identify how wide spread this issue is, as I have not had any other complaints of this nature escalated to me. You mentioned that you are aware of other subs with the same problem, is there a specific forum thread in which other forum users have commented on this, or could you ask these people to contact me please? The more cases that I have of problems, the stronger the case I have for a change of provider or an alternative solution. Our magazines are indeed hosted via Magzter as well, although subscribing this way does not enable access to the archive. It is also the same model as Pocketmags I believe, as it downloads to their reader, much the same as Pocketmags. Their customer care is very much separate to ours as they are essentially just a third party reseller, so I am not aware of whether their updates have caused any problems for readers. I am working on an alternative solution to enable you to access to the issues without these ongoing issues, as well as trying to resolve the problems with our app supplier; I can assure you, the company is not looking to steal anything from subscribers; this is simply a case of a third party's technology letting us down. Regarding the Archive problems, I have asked my IT contact if he has any idea why your issues are not loading. Do you know which issues specifically you were having trouble with? Kind regards, Kate) Kate Hall's contact if you are having trouble with the App's and accessing the magazines on your device already downloaded (NOT THE FORUM ARCHIVES) [email protected] |

Flash as I said is a known overly complex + often attacked bit of cr@pware that is known to be a common vector for malware - it is on its last legs - adobe keep patching it to avoid the latest problem hence the common requirement to keep updating
Frances thanks I've known of the demise of Flash for years and I am surprised companies have not headed the warnings of it security breaches and sort better quality software/add on's etc. |

I've delved deeper opening up the Page Info in Firefox to find in the background It has been blocked "Not my doing" This is the link to the page when I click on the front cover that i am taken to.
I have altered 2 check boxes allowing "Add On Installs" & "Run Adobe Flash" I am doing re-start to see if this fixes the problem. There is no choice to do this within Firefoxes Add Ons. |

I do not see any resolve for the other Raymond in the other thread as he didn't come back and say he had success in getting through??? "Someone suggested I use another browser. I have Chrome and so I tried that. Success" Raymond, You have been asked to try another browser which will help us eleminate some of the likely problems, you have not done this yet. So help us to help you by trying another browser. Edited By JasonB on 12/07/2018 12:40:23 Edited By JasonB on 12/07/2018 12:40:50 Jason please go back through my posts and read them. i have already stated I tried Microsofts Edge it responded with "I needed to download the latest Adobe Flash Player"!! My problem is within and between the server mys machine & Firefox and obviously now Flash Player and Firefox. adding to this I have now tried 3 machines the PC, The Tablet, Laptop using Chrome it came back with "I needed to download the latest Flash Player" |

I know as a past Techie that MY machine will not issue me such a response of Error as shown above that has to be a server error. I agree the ping maybe be defective somewhere between. BUT why can i read and view any other magazines NOT connected with Mytimemedia?? |
