Thanks for the link JasonB. am waiting for my 1st ER25 R8 collet chuck/collets to arrive. Is the 'collet wrench' the same as the nut-c-spanner or have I missed something ? DaveD |
Thread: Help with ultrasonic cleaner |

"we had a small shop with a bank of 6 in there as I remember they were filled with 'Tric' they were around 3ft x 3ft and around 4ft deep," My first job after school was as Trainee Instrument maker, the plating shop had a degreasing tank 4x3ft x 3ft deep that wasn't ultrasonic but 'Tric' vapourised by heating coils. It was run by Charlie, a wizened chap in black waistcoat, flat cap and a lit roll-up always hanging from the corner of his mouth. He would stick his hands and head, roll-up, cap and all, in the tank to hang/remove the wire baskets of components. Tried it myself once and skin on hands came out with a chalky white appearance after not long in the vapour. Looking back now I reckon 'old Charlie' was probably only about 40yrs old....but his flat cap was always immaculate. DaveD |

John, re having to keep logging-in, I'm an ex-lurker and only a newbie to posting and always having to log-in was a pain. Found that when I click 'log-in' I am only offered e-mail and password options. If I ignore that and click log-in a second time I get those two options again but also a small 'remember me' box which when ticked allows me to re-connect as 'already logged-in'. When logged-in the original log-in page shows again, ignore that and click 'more latest posts'. Hope I understood the problem correctly and HTH. DaveD Edited By Meunier on 14/03/2017 20:24:44 |

Howard, You and Bazyle make good points but I'm 73 next month and what with all the folks who have popped their clogs this last year I have come to the realisation that time is like a toilet roll - the closer one gets to the end, the faster it runs out. Having always wanted one I have decided to go for it, get myself a mill and buy things that I would previously have spent time making ! Will have the pallet delivered - eventually - and dropped off in the garage and chain hoist it up on a beam onto a rolling platform and up two steps into the workshop where I have fitted two thick-walled scaffold tubes across two more beams and chain hoist it up onto the stand. Neil, Good info from Finland - reinforces what I remember seeing a few years ago during the MRSA / C.diff 'epidemic' in NHS hospitals; that hospitals were trialling replacing S/S work surfaces with copper as an antibacterial measure. DaveD |

Thanks all for the welcome - nice one JS, that explains it. I would have built it Bazyle but hope to be moving in future so prefer a portable version this time round. DaveD |

Not really mumble and groan but..... Hi I'm DaveD and I've been finally nudged out of lurkerdom by another member not only ordering - but actually receiving a WM18. It appears that this member has snagged the last WM18 stand this side of the China Sea so I shall have to wait for the ship to come in ! Congrats Petro1head, it looks even more impressive unpacked than it does on their website. Am enjoying the write-up and the photos, good job. p.s what did you use to clean the protective coating off the table ? p.p.s how many hours are there in JasonB's day ?
