I agree with everything said by John S above.I know lots of folk who go to harrogate every year, but will not go anywhere near the south east as public transport is too expensive and time consuming, and the roads are chaotic

       Merry Christmass everyone    Cheers  Derek

Thread: Cutting steel plate
30/11/2010 17:32:40
I have a 20 year old ELU jig saw that i often use to cut steel plate up to 1/4" thick, and have cut ally up to 5/8" thick.  I only use Bosch blades with the correct No. of TPI for the job.  I find it also helps to give the blade a tiny squirt of weld anti-spatter wich stops the blades clogging particulary on ally.

Thread: Which mill
10/11/2010 20:43:29
Hi Richard
I have the Axminster Micro-Mill X1 fitted with the long bed from Arc Euro making it the same spec as the X1L.     I bought the mill 5 years ago (on special offer at the time ), and it has done everthing i have wanted it to do with no problems at all ( touch wood ), allthough i have to say it did need stripping down and deburring of all the slideways Etc. I have recently bought a Chester Champion 20V , as i now want to do bigger items that the small one could not handle, but i would still not want to part with the X1.
             cheers Derek

Thread: Midlands Model Engineering Show at Warwick
22/10/2010 10:52:26
Hi Folks
My first ever post and it is a bit of a moan. I agree with Bogs and Nick that Donnington was far better, but it seems to me that all the show organizers want to get as far away from the north west as possible. I seem to recall that someone said prior to a recent show at ASCOT, that they were glad to have found somewhere more central !!!!!!!     Will someone else please show that person a map.

   cheers  Derek
