Thread: Are Dremel's worth the money |
09/05/2013 16:49:48 |
I have one of the old Dremel drills made in the USA. I bought it in 1980 and it is still going fine. I also have a Proxxon right angle drill bought in 2005 which is great for getting in awkward places, also still going fine, and an Aldi one with flexi drive bought in 2010 but i don't use that one too offten. If i were buying a new one now it would have to be a Proxxon. Cheers Derek. |

My eldest is 44 (daughter) youngest 30 (son), eldest grandchild 18, youngest 3. I am happy to say that all my children have good jobs, and are far better off than the old fella who is on pension credit and nowt to hand out. So i think i am the exception to the rule. No complaints from me though. I hope your ordeal is soon over Fizzy, and you are soon a proud dad. Cheers Derek. |

Sorry i can't help Alan, but i would like to point out to the opps of this site that i often have the same problem as Trevor (above). Using the compatability button only causes all kinds of other problems. It is not working now. Cheers Derek. |

I have been having the same problem Ian. The dammed thing will not let me drop the cursor down so i can sign of. I don't know what you would call it, but the thing on a typewriter that lets you start a new line, or on my keyboard the button that says "enter" stops working. ONLY ON THIS SITE. Here we go again. Cheers Derek. It's doing it now. |

Thread: Warco wm-14 |
26/03/2013 18:21:56 |
George, I never tilt the head on my mill, well locked at 90 deg to table, and like yourself i use a tilting vice if need be. RE the cable problem, i am fairly sure it was a Warco mill that had the problem. because the control box is fixed to the head and the cable exits at the rear, when the head is rotated there is a danger of slicing through the cable. Perhaps someone else who remembers the artical can enlighten us !!!!! As i said in a previous post, i just think it is somthing that anyone new to the hobby should be aware of. We don't need anyone going BANG before they get started. Cheers Derek. P.S. Looks like your mill will NOT have the problem. Edited By magpie on 26/03/2013 18:24:11 |

Looking at the one on Ebay, i would think the problem with the mains cable is still there, so i hope you don't need to tilt the head. Cheers Derek. |
26/03/2013 09:24:01 |
I recall a thread somewhere that highlighted a problem with the Warco mill. it would seem that should you wish to tilt the head at anytime there is a danger of slicing the mains cable in half. It may well be that the problem has been sorted, but i think folk should be made aware of this. Cheers Derek. |

The stand is home made, as is the workbench ,both made from scrap (we have a very good local scrapyard). I was not "suggesting" anything, i have no idea why the warco mill is more expensive, there could be very many reasons. I chose the Chester item not just on price, but also on the recomendation of a friend who has dealt with Chester UK for many years..Plus the company is only 25 miles away so if i do ever have any problems it should be easy to sort them out. Cheers Derek. P.S. it would seem you like putting words into peoples mouths, never a good idea on this site. |
