Thread: Cutter and lathe tool grinder advice need
26/02/2013 18:45:14

Hi
I am in need of a grinding machine for milling cutters and turning tools.
Since I know you oldchao out here possess a lot of knowledge on the subject.
Can you give me some advice on what kind of device I'm going to build me.
Not too complicated, not too expensive but good enough.
Is Harold Hall grinding rest, which he describes in his book, stable and accurate enough. Quorn looking too complicated to build and use, and expensive also. But what about the Hart grinding rest, Reymac cutter grinder, Worden, etc.

Yes but that is not the same card. See my pic above.

Have begun construction of Sweet Pea .. I am now in the process of putting together the wheels on the axles. Does anyone have a drawing of a good and simple fixture to do this perfectly.?

Thank you Thor.

Locating the taps at the side givs better space for the bolts.

Need advice.
I'm building a Stuart V10, beginners course.
I have seen that some machines have drain taps on the cylinder.
Is this necessary?
If you have such cranes, it becomes the very crowded for one screw to the two caps to the cylinder., Which then ends up in the middle of the hole for the tap.
How to solve it?
Find nothing in the book, drawing or Harold Hall's web page.

When you want to paint the machine, you need a Primmer first?
