No need to reply just realised the barrel pin is for a pony type bogie where their is a leverage back to the pivot pin, on a four wheeled bogie the loads are equal either side of the pin. Regards Gordon May |

Basically a flat washer of dia 1/8" larger than the crank pin dia, c.s.k. to take a 2ba c.s.k. screw. The crank pin of course tapped to suit, Locktite in. Hope this helps. Regards Gordon May p.s. washer thickness 0.070" |

Designed the above for 5" gauge but have just seen a drawing where the pin is radiused on the diameter where it fits into the slide block, i do not see how this works as the slide block is up against one of the main frame stretchers or have I just got a blind spot ? HAS ANYBODY ANY INFORMATION ON VACUUM GROOVES IN SMALL VALVE PISTONS. RATHER THAN FIT O RINGS OR PACKING YARN. ie HOW THEY WORK AND WHAT SPEC, IS REQD.

I am currently designing a 5" V2 type loco where I hope to return the exhaust steam back into the tender via a heat exchanger, but before I can accomplish this I need to extract the hot lubricating oil from the exhaust steam. Can anyone suggest a fast way of accomplishing this. |
