I've always used WD40 on padlocks outdoors, frees them up a treat and seems to keep them working for ages. Not had any reason to try it on internal doors (yet).

The Vulcan XH558 has been test flown from it's Doncaster base after Winter servicing, still needs funds to fly the busy season ahead. News on the website. http://www.vulcantothesky.org/
On BBC news this morning there was a feature on the Vulcan, and fleet of Victors to refuel it (and each other) which bombed Port Stanley runway to stop the Argentinians using it, featured some great footage of Vulcan flying.
My how quickly those thirty years have gone !

Hi. I do not think you should be operating this by the hatched bar, from what I remember that is just the fixing for auxillary switches and you should not be operating by pushing mechanical parts of the contactor or with the cover off either. Surprised the motor rewinder did not know any industrial type electricians. Years since I worked with anything like this so am unwilling to go any further with advice, really do think you need some proper help, electrics can be lethal if you do not know what you are doing!

Some emergency stop buttons lock in when pushed and need twisting or some similar action or even a key to release them. Hope this is not teaching granny to suck eggs, but did you operate the reset before trying anything else?

Are there any safety interlocks or cut outs fitted to this machine, i.e. a locking emergency stop button which might be holding the control circuit off?
By following this link there is a 28 page Danfoss technical data sheet available for the range of contactors which includes the CI-9, this would probably help an Electrician sort things out.

The lubrication chart in My ML7 manual (1970 vintage) suggests a "small amount of oil (viscosity 30) will effectively lubricate the gear teeth", not very specific but that's what it says. Getting hold of a manual might help you, it is full of useful info and a lube chart, there are quite a few points! Myford sell a manual, which from the illustration looks the same as mine, listed under "myford lathe catalogues" on their website.

Thanks for the information, I've not built a boiler yet, but will certainly bear it all in mind for future reference.

Hi.
One of the last jobs I worked on while in full time employment involved installing refrigeration pipework, the joints were made using what was described as copper brazing rod, that was (I think) a copper phosporous material and did not need a seperate flux.
This was excellent for running into capillary joints, but I found it slightly less easy to use on flat or curved surfaces (might just have been me of course).
The finished product had all the appearance of copper, but I know nothing about its properties or suitability for any other application, it was also a long time ago!
Regards.

At recent exhibitions, I notice the Allendale group seem to have various machine scales, encoders and remote readouts, etc, at reasonable prices.

I think we should keep the stands which are not strictly "Model Engineering", I have certainly found many useful (and reasonably priced) items on them.
Also looking at odd items can prove a source of inspiration for alternative methods of achieving an end product

Hi.
Personally speaking (if it's new & under warranty), I would stop using it and contact the suppliers about the problem on Monday.

I always check our "throw outs" for useful stuff before taking it to the tip.
Have also seen some impressive models that people made from scrap.

You could try a Jewellery equipment supplier.
These people list cut 6.
An internet search might produce many other suppliers of jewellery tools.
