Thread: Another EVRI calamity.

On my road (in a village) the housing on one side comprises mainly Victorian era housing with typical numbering such as: 1,2,3 Honeysuckle Villas.

The other side of the road is individual homes on larger plots and all the houses are named.

As far as I am aware there is no overall numbering system in the road at all.

Fusion power is still just around the corner then!

Ive just come in from outdoors on our globally warmed planet, if that’s warm then roll on global cooling!

The best (correct) idea is to contact the sender and get them to sort it out.

Thread: Any Parcelforce delivery issues during strike?
14/12/2022 13:39:15

I received 2 parcels this morning, one by the Postie and one by Parcelforce both rang the doorbell and put them down outside as we have Covid.

Both had been dispatched yesterday in fact one of them had only been ordered online yesterday morning.

Thread: Repair cafes
09/12/2022 11:16:03

I would assume these places have insurance cover and appropriate restrictions on competency are imposed by the insurers?

I have not seen a programme about repair cafes as such only occasional coverage on news type broadcasts.

Our area recycling centres (formerly tips) seem to take in good stuff and recycle it with a re-use scheme link to that here:-

These types of places have featured on tv occasionally and people doing the repairs appeared to get involved to a much deeper level than replacing a fuse.

That however is the total of my knowledge of the subject and perhaps following the advice given by DC31k would be the best option for anyone interested.

Thread: Any Parcelforce delivery issues during strike?
03/12/2022 15:23:45

I ordered some printer inks online from HP Wednesday afternoon and received a confirmation email for Friday delivery.

Shortly after an email from Parcelforce arrived stating the same.

Yesterday morning Parcelforce emailed me to say the delivery would be made between 09:50 & 10:50 the fully branded Parcelforce van arrived at approx 10:30 and driver handed the parcel to me at my door.

I call that good service from HP & Parcelforce.

I have many memories of sitting on the beach as a child with roar of that plus the bitingly cold wind when visiting relatives in the North East.

Edited By V8Eng on 23/11/2022 08:42:31

Going to the beach sounds like a whole different experience from mine in Australia!

From what I have seen you are correct in that assumption!
I was a 50% London 50% Northern heritage lad sitting on the wind blown beach in my trunks then striding down into the bitterly cold sea, mostly so the northern granddad would not classify me as one of his “southern softies”
I shiver at the thought even now!

Several decades ago I took my then new (southerner) wife on holiday in the tees area and met a few of the relatives, we drove past the steelworks one evening when a very long glowing chunk of metal was moving along a few feet above ground.

To this day she still remembers the sight and speaks of it if steelworks are mentioned.

Anybody watching this should keep an eye on what happens to the tall chimney fairly close to the demolition!

The mighty Blast Furnace at Redcar is to be demolished using explosives.

BBC Breakfast will be showing it live at 09.00, no doubt many other sources as well.
