Thanks for reply Dave Clark 1, it would be interesting to see what Dave Fenner thinks, although the one in Issue 143 seems Ok. dependent on the amount of travel available.

As an ex Capstan Operator I am used to using the above type of item.

Does anyone know of a similar item to fit my Sieg C3 Lathe ?
 
I am not up to making Rack and Pinions, but if I could buy something suitable, I may then be able to make something work.
 
Any suggestions will be most helpful.
