Thread: What happened to the Myford sale thread?
20/07/2011 12:27:25
Eddie,

I have no concrete information but just a feeling in my water that something might be available in time. Wait for the dust to settle a while and keep an eye on the forums and journals.

Sounds like there will be no Myford company there to support warranty claims for existing machines or those sold over the weekend.

I can't imagine any business buyer picking up the warranty responsibility without the ability to back it up with the full range of parts.

Stuart,
That particular webpage will almost certainly be controlled by the administrators whose sole responsibility will be to raise as much cash for the creditors as possible and little else.

I Have just read elsewhere that all the Myford spares and accessories stock has been sold to one company. This may or may not have been the gist of Chris Stephens post but I echo his sentiments as I was one of those who was contemplating a long drive to buy some spares for my machine.

Thread: Sturmey-Archer gears
19/07/2009 13:22:28
I've been surprised how many different variants there are that folk have mentioned elsewhere since my original enquiry was posted in a few forums. Add to the the gearing variations all the different number of spoke holes in the hub and there are a fair few different types around.

Thanks John,

I've found the gears in question. For anyone else needing the information. the (relatively) common AW hubs use 4 planet gears of nominal 11/16" OD, 5/8" PCD 20 teeth of 32DP.
Face width is 5/16"

Bit of a shot in the dark but.......

I'm looking for some small pinions for a one off project and it occurs to me that the planet gears from a S-A hub gearbox might just be around the right size.
I has got to be 40 years since I took one of these apart so my memory is a little faded but I think there are 4 pinions around 3/4" diameter
Can anyone who might just have some of they in their junk box please tell me the general dimensions?

Bore, face width, no of teeth and overall diameter are what I need to assess suitability.

TIA

Thread: MEW Just gets better
13/07/2009 20:18:40
Just to slightly alter the balance and help David fit his head though the office door, I should like to make an appeal for relevant cover photos for MEW.
When browsing for a magazine in the newsagent, I feel there is an expectation that the cover should give a sample of the contents.
Looking back over the last year or so, there are very few photos that relate to the content of the current issue. In one or two cases the photo relates to a forthcoming issue!

What do others think about this.
