The tap spout end consists of the plastic rose with a smaller diameter flexible tube which is a posh fit into the rear of the rose.

The plastic 'rose head' disc on our kitchen mixer tap has come off. Any one suggest a suitable glue to reattach it? Jim

If you consider the number of sales an optician, furniture store, art gallery, jewellers, fashion shop, etc has in the average day and then take their total overheads - rates, rent, heating, lighting, security, staffing, pension contributions, advertising, etc, etc into consideration a substantial mark-up is required to stay afloat. I was once told that expensive watches had a 650& mark-up and large furniture items 300% which, given the cost of staying open I could believe. As a late friend who was in the motorcycle business once said, ‘I have to stay open every Friday night or folk will drift elsewhere, even if I don’t even get enough across the counter to pay for the lights’. Re buying wood - I have, when possible, got all timber from a traditional yard. While quite often it will not sell a cut length, the quality of material offsets the extra cost. And I usually find a good use for the off-cut. Jim

Have had the same problem with Homebase. More a 'pile' then high and sell them cheap that 'stack' as in arranged in the correct manner. My Homebase has all timber inside in a dry, heated environment which would not help the issue and as all staff are multi 'skilled' they may have little affinity and/or knowledge of correct procedures. Forget about car park problems, After 35 years of neighbourhood bliss a selfish ba****d moved in 8 months ago, who insists on leaving his car directly opposite our driveway despite being asked politely to park slightly up or down from his usual position which he could do without any problem. Every house has a driveway and he is the only one not using it. With it being a cul-de-sac, the road is quite narrow, which means that I often have to drive past, do a 3-point turn, drive back past his vehicle before reversing in. I thought he only picked on us but recently, when his wife was on the footpath using her mobile, he came out and tried to snatch it. I must admit I was waiting to dial 999 should he lay a hand on her if only for the joy of seeing him being ‘scooped’.

Had a quick look at today’s Screwfix offer and saw that the ‘Screwfix Trade Apprentice of the Year’ comp now on. Great idea? While perhaps understanding the reason no practical skills are to be examined, with it is being based on professionalism, business interest, knowledge of their chosen industry, goals and ambitions, enthusiasm, determination and innovation can it serve any real purpose. Or is it yet another example that as long as you know the theory it does not matter if you can’t put it into practice.

Life is not always simple. Sent a package via Collectplus to be collected at our daughter's local store. When she received the text re collection, she called in, showed the text with ref number. Following a lot of hassle the assistant finally accepted that the delivery was for her. Reason? As the box was a reused John Lewis one he assumed she should have had a John Lewis email. Next time I will cover it with ye ould brown paper! Jim

This morning on instructions from above I relocated the shredder under the loaded clothes horse in the ute room. Following the shredding of some paper I wondered where the micro fibre cloth was. After a search it was discovered. In the shredder bin. Silly me trying to help. Mike, not to belittle your and some other members recent painful experiences, thank goodness it is a ‘falling-over’ and not ‘falling -out’ club which would appear to be somewhat prevalent these days on some other forums. Hi MichaelG You are correct, all listing have vanished or are no longer accessible. Most had 99p starting prices. and the listings included a beautiful flat tank Sunbeam and other desirable vehicles all with £3000 'buy it now' prices. And the man from ERNIE failed to call tonight as well!

Checking what exciting offers ebay has in the way of bikes/cars and wondered across this listing. Should I be concerned with the buy it now prices? Or do I lack the ability to trust others?
