Hi, The cast is cast iron (ex window weight, carron) and going to be soldered to steel box iron which will be the water jacket, Thanks

Hi, This could be a stupid question to ask some of you but as i have never done it before, I am going to silver solder a cast sleeve to a steel water jacket must i heat up the cast first or can i just start and solder it

The reason i am asking is that i thought that the cast would crack if not heated up The water jacket is 50mm x 50mm x 60mm long and the cast sleeve is 38 mm outside and 30mm inside and 65mm long, Many thanks for any help

Hi Chris,

Thread: Best price for Bronze
15/11/2010 16:33:08
Hi,
Thanks Terryd and everyone that replied I have tried Macc models and they quoted me 2.50p postage on a length of 12'' x 1/2"" a huge difference from the 38 pounds I was quoted from the first shop I tried,so I now know who will get the order.
09/11/2010 20:15:50
Where could I purchase bronze rod from, tried one modeling site and they quoted me 16.50p for 13mm x 500mm but the postage was 38 pounds extra, Yes I do live on an island in north scotland but I think this is a bit of a rip off, surely there must be a better deal somewhere,

Hi Ken, As I said before you would not be disapointed with the cutter,I found out to, that the sharping was very easy and a pleasure to do, as I myself was not an expert at  getting the sharping perfect most of the times, so in the meantime Happy Turning.
